I loved reading Galatians 4 today with my Relay Worker.  Paul (the writer of Galatians) is exclaiming ‘What happened to your joy?’… The trouble with pleasing people rather than Jesus… Joy gets sucked out of everything.

Oh, and by the way… Apparently joy is pink.

What a day!  I got to go to a seminar on ‘principalities and powers’ by Marva Dawn.  I LOVED the level at which I had to engage my brain to think, chat and apply. I came away with a sense of having experienced the freedom which comes from Truth.  I need to spend more time with people like her and some of the others who were around.

I then had dinner with a family from my home church.  I love that they’re looking out for me.  But the highlight of this was chatting with the husband who’s only recently come to faith.  His honest questions and opinions are a breath of fresh air and make me think about more than elementary things.

A night in watching ‘Saved’ with my housemate.  I love my housemate.

Platonically, I mean.

Just to clarify.

Now, not to diminish having lunch and hanging out with my Northern teammates - that was great, bu the BEST feeling was closing the door after them to the feeling that, for a change I didn’t have very far to go home after a team meeting!!!

Was a bit nervous about leading homegroup tonight, but I loved it.  Think it went well, well, you know apart from insinuating that one of the members made a habit of dressing in his wife’s clothes.

D’oh.  Engage brain, then speak.

A ‘quick’ chat (that ended up being for ages!) with ‘kicked and stoned’ which made me all the more thankful for their friendship

My friend from work came up for the day.  REally lovely to hang out with her in a non-team-meeting way.  We got to go see a former collegue’s incredible new house, get bid ‘ni-ni’ by his adorable son, eat Yoko chinese food and watch’Little Miss Sunshine’.

Awesome.

A friend’s dad unexpectedly turning up for church.  God is at work…

A hug from a friend I hadn’t seen in while.  I’d somehow thought they wouldn’t be excited to see me, but the hug made me feel loved and appreciated and valued.

A catch-up with another friend who’s just finished her first year (and first 6 months on CU committee) of uni in Scotland.

A snooze in the sun, good CSSM prequel banter followed by chips and Morelli’s on the prom.

A last lunch with one of the students who’s graduating this summer.  He kept me sane and inspired me through much of my first year on staff. A poignant moment.

An excuse to buy a new outfit and a fun party where I got to make people jealous that I’m a whole 3 and a half years off 30…! 

Ehmmm… Today really needs me to think of a 365.

Like, actually there are a lot of good things about where I live.  Today was sunny and it was a pleasure to be near the sea.  I can afford to feed and clothe myself, I am relatively healthy (bar the gammy feet according to the foot doctor today) and I have friends.

I just need to get over myself.

For all the good things I have, I am thankful.
